Psoriasis Treatment and Cures is not that easy as you may think, particularly as there are many types of Psoriasis. Plus every cure is not the same from one person to another. Each patient has to be evaluated by a doctor to distinguish what form of Psoriasis they may have and whether it is a mild form or chronic form of psoriasis.
Treatments and cures are prescribed by the doctor from how it is effecting the patients state of mind, their confidence, if it is exposed on the face or hands. Other factors to consider are lifestyle, occupation, geographic location (if at a distance from treatment centres, it could be difficult for the patient to receive certain therapies, such as photo therapy), other health problems that require medication (certain psoriasis medications might interact with other medications)
Many factors have to be considered before the doctor can correctly suggest a treatment. It could be topical therapy i.e. creams , ointments, sprays or gels to apply to the infected area. Or the doctor could suggest topical corticosteriods to control and contain the infected areas. Other treatments include topical treatment, photo therapy, systemic therapy, biologics.
There are five types of Psoriasis :-
. Plaque Psoriasis
. Guttate Psoriasis
. Inverse Psoriasis
. Erythrodermic Psoriasis
. Pustular Psoriasis
The goals of any therapy are to contain and elevate the problem it is always capable of returning. This can be brought on by environmental triggers, stress, and smoking to name a few causes. If the patient has a family history of the illness there is more likelihood of them forming Psoriasis and passing it on in their family.
With modern treatments and a new understanding of this disease it is much more realistic to say that a significant improvement can be made to the infected area but in many cases complete clearance may not be possible.
